Conceito Legítimo

A counterpoint to the Bastardo, it seeks to offer an alternative to the huge clientele that every year was disappointed with the early exhaustion of a wine that over time has gained a loyal following. Legítimo uses the normal Douro grape varieties, but seeks the same seductive appeal that Bastardo offers, a spicy and glutinous lightness that makes it smooth, fresh and appetizing. Made with minimal intervention, seeking a natural, stripped down, direct style.

Vineyard

Schist soils. Made with grapes from 50-year-old vines at Quinta Vale de Cavalos.

Vinification

Grapes hand picked and transported to the winery in 20kg boxes, then placed in stainless steel vats with whole bunches, where they are fermented with autochthonous yeasts and minimal intervention.

Aging

18 months in stainless steel vats.
