This Ruby is unique in that it is produced exclusively from grapes planted in category A vineyards (all Quinta de la Rosa vineyards have this classification), normally used for LBV and Vintage production. Rare case, most Ruby grapes are of category B to D and therefore tend to be less concentrated. Many of our customers told us that our Ruby was too good to be called Ruby. So, we decided to name it after the batch number we used to make it: ''Batch 601''.

Winemaking

The Port wines from Quinta de la Rosa follow the traditional style: fermented by foot treading in granite vats and aged in very old wooden vats and barrels (550 liter oak casks). As with the Douro DOCs from this Douro house, we seek harmony and balance in our grapes in the vineyard, so that they can express themselves freely in the bottle.
