The jewel in the crown. Its freshness and minerality make it appetizing when young, but it can age for decades.

Harvest

The 2016 vintage was exceptional and widely declared by all the main Port Wine houses. What was produced tended to be spectacular. The wines typically had great concentration and intensity, complexity and an elegant but strong tannic structure. The quality of the tannins was so high that numerous reports commented on them. These are excellent Ports, many will be much appreciated now, but the best will continue to age for decades to come.

Winemaking

Foot trodden in granite mills for 3 or 4 nights, with careful temperature control. Aged in oak barrels for 24 months before bottling.
