Vista Alegre Vintage Port 1999 is made with a combination of grapes that include Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, and Tinta Barroca. The grapes are hand-picked and put into small baskets, originating from a single harvest and made in a traditional way to make Port Wine.
The winemaking process begins with a partial stripping of the grapes, followed by a treading of the grapes with feet in old stone “lagares”. The fermentation is done with a temperature-controlled process and then stopped with the adding of brandy (firewater). This wine has a big aging potential and, when stored under ideal conditions, can last for more than 30 years.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 1999 has a medium dark color with a ruby rim. Its nose is very powerful, with notes of blackberries and a touch of coffee. In the palate it is rich and dense, with perfect acidity and a long finish.
It is important to keep the bottle in a horizontal position at a constant temperature, away from direct light. Over time, some natural sediment may form in the bottle, so it should be carefully opened and decanted before serving. This wine should be consumed at a temperature between 16º C to 18º C.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 1999 goes well with strong cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Danish Blue, and Portuguese Serra. It can also be served alongside fruit or chocolate desserts or a good cigar.
This product contains sulphites.
