Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2006 is made using traditional winemaking techniques. The grapes are hand picked and placed in small baskets, and originate from a single harvest. The grapes are then trod by foot in old stone “lagares” and the fermentation process is temperature-controlled and stopped by adding brandy (firewater). The wine is made to have a great aging potential, and can last up to 30 years if stored under ideal conditions.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2006 is composed of the following grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2006 has an opaque colour and a very floral aroma. The wine is quite sweet and has a balanced finish.
This wine should be kept on its side in a cool, dark place and be stored at a constant temperature. The wine may form natural sediment over time, so it should be carefully opened and decanted before serving. The recommended serving temperature is between 16º C to 18º C.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2006 pairs well with strong cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Danish blue, Serra, and other Portuguese cheeses. It also goes well with chocolate and fruit desserts and cigars.
