Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2015 is the perfect wine for special occasions. This exquisite port is a result of the traditional method of port winemaking. Grapes are harvested manually and placed into small boxes, and then partially destemmed before being crushed in stone mills with foot steps. The fermentation of the must takes place under controlled temperatures, with brandy added to interrupt the process. As it is produced, the wine has a great potential for aging.
The grape varieties used in this exquisite port are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.
This port is opaque, heavily loaded with purplish tones. On the nose, the aroma is very fruity and complex, highlighting the fine aroma of ripe black fruits, jam and jelly. The palate is round and velvety, full-bodied, and warm. It has very ripe fruit notes such as blackberry and blackcurrant while its polished and velvety tannins provide a good prolongation and finish in the end of mouth.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2015 should be stored on the horizontal position, at a constant temperature and away from intense direct light. As it ages in the bottle, some natural sediment may form. Therefore, it should be carefully opened and decanted before being served. This unfiltered wine should be consumed in the same day after the decantation process. For best results, it should be consumed at a temperature between 16º C and 18º C.
This port pairs very well with strong cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Danish blue, Portuguese Serra, among others. It can also be served with fruit or chocolate desserts, or eventually a good cigar.
The Vista Alegre Vintage Port contains sulfites.
