The team at Vista Alegre has crafted an exquisite Vintage Port in the form of the 2010 Vintage. This unique drink is produced in the traditional way to make Port Wine. The grapes, handpicked for small baskets, come from a single harvest. They are trod by foot in old stone “lagares” and fermenting occurs with temperature control, before adding brandy (firewater) to stop the fermentation. This wine is made with a lot of care and attention and has an outstanding aging potential. With the right conditions, it can age for over 30 years in the bottle.
The Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2010 is a blend of seven different grape varieties, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.
The 2010 Vintage Port has a dark red with violet nuances colour. Its aroma is intensly fruited with red and black mature fruits. The taste is soft and silky, full-bodied with a great structure, and warm, very mature fruits like blackberry and the raspberry. Its tannins are evident but velvety, providing a long tasting finish.
This Vintage Port should be stored horizontally, at a constant temperature and away from intense direct light. It is unfiltered and once the bottle is opened, it should be consumed in the same day. After the decanting process, the wine will open and will reach its peak, and then slowly start losing its freshness. The best temperature to drink this wine is between 16°C to 18°C.
The Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2010 pairs perfect with strong cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Danish blue, or Portuguese Serra. It can also be served with fruit or chocolate desserts.
