Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2003 is made from grapes hand-picked from a single harvest. The winemaking process follows traditional Portuguese methods; grapes are partially stripped, trod by foot in old stone “lagares” and the fermentation is controlled with temperature and the addition of brandy (firewater). This vintage Port is capable of aging for over 30 years, if stored properly.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2003 is a red wine blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão grapes.
The deep blue-coloured wine presents a rather closed nose with aromas of fruit and berries. It has a medium body and is easy to drink. The finish is soft and enjoyable.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2003 should be stored horizontally in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Decant carefully before serving as the wine may form natural sediment. The ideal serving temperature is 16-18°C.
This Port pairs wonderfully with strong cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Danish blue and Portuguese Serra. It also goes well with fruit and chocolate desserts or a good cigar.
This wine contains sulphites.
Vista Alegre Vintage Port 2003 has earned several awards and positive reviews from renowned wine critics, including 85 points from Stephen Tanzer and Silver medals from the Decanter World Wine Awards 2006 and Vinalies Internationales 2006.
