The Quinta de Valle Longo Vintage Port 2018 is a hand-picked wine made from a single harvest. The winemaking is done in the traditional way to make Port Wine. After partial stripping of the grapes, they are trodden by foot in old stone “lagares”. The fermentation occurs with temperature control, and is stopped by adding brandy (firewater). This vintage has a very long aging potential, if stored under ideal conditions it can keep for more than 30 years.
This vintage is made with a combination of the following grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.
It has a classic ruby colour and a very good aroma with black floral notes and light minerality. Balanced in the mouth, the tannins ensure its longevity, but with the added ripe fruit it can be enjoyed now.
The bottled should be kept in a horizontal position, at a constant temperature and away from intense direct light. As the wine ages in the bottle, it may form some natural sediment so it should be carefully opened and decanted before being served. It should be consumed on the same day as it is opened, as it may lose its freshness over time. The wine should be served at a temperature of 16º C to 18º C.
The Quinta de Valle Longo Vintage Port 2018 pairs well with strong cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Danish blue, Portuguese Serra, among others. It can also be served with fruit or chocolate desserts, or even a good cigar.
This wine contains sulphites.
