Citrine yellowish colour and crystalline aspect. A quite austere and delicate that doesn't create too much expectations during the tasting. In the palate it impresses for its good acidity and notable texture that convey it an enormous gastronomic aptitude. A wine that “tastes more than it smells”.
A wine with the intention of allowing the reappearance of and old Douro variety, almost extinct. The year of 2017 was quite hot and dry, forcing the anticipation of the harvest to dates note ever remembered on the Douro region. A not very rainy winter and a mild spring allowed the vegetative cycle of the vine to start earlier than usual. The rain was very low during the entire vegetative cycle leading to a moderate hydric stress and a consequent natural adaptation of the vines to harsh conditions. Overall, 2017 was quite a defiant year for the winegrowing and enology teams, whose decisions determined the levels of freshness and natural acidity of the wines. 2017 will be remembered as a year of outstanding wines.
Grapes with total destemming followed by squeezing under inert atmosphere, in order to preserve the aromatic potential of the grapes. The wine fermentation occurred in a stainless steel tank at a temperature between 16ºC and 18ºC. While inside the stainless steel tank the bâtonnage process took place for two months. Slight gluing and tight filtration before bottling.
