This single harvest Port Wine is made using traditional methods, handpicked grapes and partial striping. The fermentation occurs with temperature control, and is stopped by adding brandy. It is then aged in oak casks for a minimum of 7 years, giving it an orange-tawny hue and raisin, dry fruit, and vanilla aromas. This silky, rich-textured wine pairs perfectly with coffee, chocolates, creme brûlée, and desserts with dried fruits and caramel.
Vista Alegre Colheita Port 2001 is a premium wine with a unique winemaking process. The grapes are hand-picked and originate from a single harvest. The winemaking process is done in the traditional way to make Port Wine. After a partial stripe of the grapes, the grapes are trod by foot in old stone “lagares”. The fermentation occurs with temperature control, being stopped by adding brandy (firewater). This wine as it is made, has very big aging potential. It is aged in oak casks for a minimum of 7 years before being bottled.
Vista Alegre Colheita Port 2001 is made using a blend of the following grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cão.
This premium wine has a tawny colour with orange nuances. It is well balanced with good acidity and freshness, and possesses aromas of raisins, dry fruits, and vanilla. It has a smooth and silky texture and a long and pleasurable finish.
Vista Alegre Colheita Port 2001 should be stored in an upright position at a constant temperature and away from intense direct light. After opening, it should be consumed preferably in 6 to 8 weeks. To enjoy it to its fullest, it should be served at a temperature between 14º C to 16º C.
Vista Alegre Colheita Port 2001 pairs perfectly with coffee or chocolates. It is also great when served with desserts like crème Brule or fruit pie, as well as desserts made from chocolate, dried fruits and caramel.
