Concept

A Proibida Red, by António Maçanita, is a wine produced in the Azores archipelago and starred by the Isabella grape, a hybrid variety originated from the natural cross between Vitis labrusca (which produces fruit commonly used for consumption in the production of natura and juice), and Vitis vinifera (the most widely cultivated for wine production). The uniqueness of this wine lies not only in its grapes, but also in its maritime terroir.

Savior and resilient, Queen Isabella has ensured, since the phylloxera attack in the 19th century, the continuation of the vine and wine on the islands to this day. For many... it is not wine! For us it is culture, it is folklore, it is part of the traditions. This "Isabella a Proibida", puts in value the history of the last 200 years, in an elegant, aromatic, authentic and simple wine.
