Founded in 2015, Oitava Colina set out on a mission to change the beer culture in Portugal. Establishing their factory in the Graça neighborhood of Lisbon, the team was committed to producing high-quality beers that they themselves wanted to enjoy.

Over the years, Oitava Colina has made a significant impact. They have crafted dozens of unique beer styles, distributed their products throughout Portugal, and even exported their beers to various international markets. The brand has also opened its own retail outlets in Lisbon to connect directly with the community.

Yet, Oitava Colina considers this just the beginning of their journey.

The name "Oitava Colina" serves as a nod to a lesser-known historical aspect of Lisbon. In the 17th century, Friar Nicolau de Oliveira described Lisbon as the "City of Seven Hills," knowingly overlooking the presence of an eighth hill. When viewed from the river, St. George's Castle obscures the Hill of Graça, effectively hiding this eighth hill from sight. The friar intentionally marginalized it to establish a parallel between Lisbon and Rome, the then-largest city known for its seven hills.

By choosing the name Oitava Colina, the brewery aims to rectify this historical oversight and bring attention to the neglected Hill of Graça, just as they aim to elevate the craft beer scene in Portugal.
