Borges Dão Reserve Red - A Delightful Red Wine

Borges Dão Reserve Red is a delightful Portuguese red wine made from a blend of Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, and Touriga Nacional grape varieties. The winemaking process begins with a total destemming of the grapes, followed by gentle crushing and a brief pre-fermentative maceration.

The wine then undergoes fermentation in tanning for 6-8 days at a controlled temperature of 28°C, with relatively frequent overruns. Afterwards, a post-fermentative maceration of a few weeks is carried out and the wine is separated from the masses with which it was fermented. Finally, the malolactic fermentation is provoked.

Tasting Notes

Borges Dão Reserve Red is clear and ruby in colour with an aroma that is fresh and intense. It displays citrus and resinous aromas, along with notes of bergamot, conjugated with fresh nuances of mint and eucalyptus. The presence of vanilla from the stage in wood confers complexity to the set in an elegant and subtle way, making it a very aromatic wine where mint and bergamot stand out.

On the palate, the wine is very elegant, with excellent acidity. Soft tannins give it a lot of structure and balance, making for a long and persistent finish with great potential for evolution in the bottle.
