11 years. That was the exact time it took for the conception, growth, and maturation of a wine created to receive the name Casa da Passarella and perpetuate our heritage, which spans well over a century. Because in reality it carries with it the responsibility of more than 130 years of our history. It was born from our seven own vineyards, which include several hundred-year-old plots, and which have an unusual variety of more than 20 native varieties, as was customary in the early decades of the 20th century.

One will never know if it was the climate, if it was the soil.

If it was the talent of the people who passed through here and their passionate stories and personalities. Or if it was, pure and simple, luck. That same luck that made it all come together, in the same place, at the right time, as a blessing of aligned planets, of sun and rain, and of the curiosity of men.

But one thing is certain. Silent and imposing, the old mountain has seen the birth of great wines in this piece of Dão land at its feet. And if for it a century and a half is almost nothing, in the time of men much has happened since the first vineyard was planted and the first stone of the House was laid, somewhere in the last decades of the 19th century.

Through times of war and peace, departures and arrivals, splendor and oblivion, the lands of the Passarella have seen history being written - by many talented authors, but always with their blood: wine.

Maybe legends do not exist and are true after all. Maybe history does, in fact, repeat itself. Or, pure and simple, maybe luck is still on our side.

Whatever the case, with the land as a blank page, we will continue to write our lines, harvest after harvest.

In the same way that the Dão is legendary, both for its memories and for its apparent naturalness in producing nectars that men do not forget, Casa da Passarella is once again putting its name in the mouths of the world - which, in our humble opinion, is precisely where great wines should be.
